When explorers Alfred and Andrew break the seal of an ancient chamber deep within a forgotten cave, they unleash a horde of monstrous, bloodthirsty bats-and something far worse. These bats, harbingers of a malevolent ancient force, spread death and chaos across the city. Gravely injured and missing an arm, Alfred escapes the cave as the sole survivor, but his warnings to the authorities fall on deaf ears. Before succumbing to his injuries, Alfred leaves behind a frantic video and detailed writings about what they unleashed. It isn't until the bats begin ravaging the city that the authorities and survivors realize the scale of the threat.
Peter, a mysterious and highly knowledgeable but reclusive man, and Yasmin, a resourceful and brave woman, run a shelter for orphaned children. As the chaos spreads, they lose most of their children to the bats, leaving only three survivors-Aaron, Benjamin, and Asma. Determined to protect the children, Peter and Yasmin uncover Alfred's recordings, which lead them to his eldest son, a timid but brilliant young man who has inherited his father's knowledge of ancient myths and science. Together, this unlikely group must journey into the heart of the chaos to uncover the ancient secrets needed to seal the abyss. But time is running out, and every moment lost brings humanity closer to extinction. Can they fight back and stop the ancient force, or will the shadow consume them all?
