That is, until the two are paired up to lead the schools annual play - A Shakespearean number, that unwittingly seems to have one too many similarities to their relationship. But then again, the line between love and hate is thin - too thin, perhaps?

Catherine was about to say something, but the office door flew open. I let out a breath of relief. Grabbing Daphne's arm, I led us towards the opened door. I pushed her in, and was about to follow, when Mathew caught my eye. He was watching me, his grey eyes locked with my green ones, until I hastily broke the contact and disappeared into the office. ★★★ Tessa Parker is starting her junior year in high school, desperate to keep her head down and pass through the year unnoticed like she usually does. But not this time. On the first day back, she unintentionally brews up more tension between herself and her childhood enemy, Catherine Jameson. The cause of the tension? Aaron and Mathew. how far would you go . . . for someone you love? ♔ Levi steps forward, placing himself between me and Jack. Like he's protecting me from him. But I don't need protecting, certainly not from Jack. "Who do you think you are, dude?" Levi spits, getting in Jack's face. "Look, Scarlett was just helping me out with a proj-" "I'm not your dude," Jack bites, and I want to tear my hair out of my head. This is going downhill very fast. Jack turns to me. "Scar, we need to talk," he says lowly. Then loud enough for Levi to hear, "So can you please get this kid to leave." "Hey, you don't get to come in here and start ordering her around," Levi says harshly. "You don't control her." "And you think that you do?" Jack spits. ♔ When Scarlett moved off to college, she hoped to start anew and find her way in this world alone. Two problems. One: her older brother goes to the same college, and it seems like he's everywhere, keeping her from doing everything she hoped to do as a college freshman. Two: her brother's devastatingly handsome best friend also seems hell-bent on ruining her college experience . . . but in a different way. Their paths keep crossing, and Scarlett is reminded of the powerful attraction that they've both ignored for far too long. Not to mention, a new face begins to occupy everyday Scarlett's thoughts. When Scarlett is paired with an allusive, darkly handsome stranger for a film project, her world begins to open in ways she never thought possible. But as his mystery unravels into dark secrets, she wonders if she's falling a bit too hard. Allison Waters has her entire high school life planned out-perfect grades, student council presidency, and absolutely no distractions. That is, until the school's biggest slacker, Nikolai Anderson, is suddenly forced to work with her. Nikolai is everything Allison can't stand-lazy, irresponsible, and far too smug for his good. He seems to enjoy annoying her at every opportunity, turning every interaction into a game of wits. But when their teachers decide that Nikolai needs to mature, he's assigned to help plan the Valentine's Day dance alongside Allison. Now, they're stuck together-choosing decorations, managing budgets, and spending way too much time in each other's presence. At first, Allison is convinced it's going to be a nightmare. But as they're forced to work side by side, she starts to see a different side of Nikolai-one that's funny, kind, and surprisingly thoughtful. Before she knows it, she doesn't hate his presence as much as she thought. Maybe she even enjoys it. But just as things begin to shift, rumors start spreading-ones that make Allison question everything she thought she knew about Nikolai. Betrayal stings, and suddenly, the growing connection between them shatters. With the Valentine's dance approaching and the truth finally coming to light, will Allison be able to let go of her pride and admit how she feels? And will Nikolai prove that he's more than just a class clown?
