Viola Rivers is a young woman living with her father in The Riverlands, only a stone's throw from the Trident and The Crossroads Inn, where King Robert Baratheon is set to pass through on their way back to Kings Landing after making Eddard Stark the new Hand of the King.

Viola had never set eyes upon the king, his children, or even the Lord of Winterfell and his family. Hunted down by Prince Joffrey as she returns from the Inn at the Crossroads, Viola is forced to partake in the biggest fight of her life- live or die.

Joffrey is commanded by his father to release the girl, more broken and scared than when he took her, but he will not be told what to do. He makes a game of her life, a long, drawn-out jest. After being let in on the jest his Uncle Jamie and grandsire played upon his Uncle Tyrion, years prior, he sets out to do the same to his loyal Dog after being humiliated by the youngest Stark girl, though it does not go entirely the way he had planned.
