These string show who they will spend their life's with. when the string turns black, it means your soulmate has passed before you met them, but if you have met them, you will die along side them, that means the string will glow and turn white symbolizing that you've lived a happy life.
What happens when a green haired boy is determined to find his soulmate, determined to see how it feels to feel love and acceptance, but their soulmate, a red and white haired boy has accepted that soulmates are a waste of time and that love will only hurt him more, seeing that is what happened to their Mother.
