Stranded in the human world, Fennic and Maggie discover their only way home is through a powerful magical surge, via the acceptance or rejection of a mate bond. When they learn that a suppressed bond exists between them, they amicably agree to reject each other when it surfaces -- but feelings quickly complicate the matter. Fennic has always harbored a reluctant attraction for the girl he claims to hate, while Maggie -- who has always despised him -- begins seeing him in a new light.

But reconciliation will not be easy. Past hurts haunt them both, and Fennic is hiding a secret that could unravel every good thing between them. Worse still -- the life essence of an old enemy has taken root in Maggie, pushing her closer to a cruel fate unbeknownst to them both.
