Can she keep her secret? Will she live? This story is written in first person and present tense.
A fanfiction based on Rebecca Yarros's novel and series Fourth Wing from the Empyrean series. Most characters and the world are by Rebecca Yarros, but a couple of characters are created by me. It is recommended that you read Fourth Wing and Iron Flame before reading this, but this may also be read without reading those books. This fanfiction was written before Onyx Storm came out, so some theories might be incorrect.
Nevertheless, enjoy!

She's still small-but she's not soft. A reimagining of Fourth Wing with a heroine who's not just fragile and tiny-she's powerful, dangerous, and absolutely not afraid of dragons or heartbreak - currently trending in Liam Mairi. Expect slow-burn romance, deadly training, a messy love triangle, and a shadow boy who's very much not out of reach... yet. This is also partly my guilty pleasure. It won't follow every detail of the book, but will still follow the major plot points. - Apparently you all like dragons and slow burns 😊 #1 in dragon riders 🐉
A DragonBlood Girl || Xaden Riorson Fan-Fiction
He loved Violet Sorrengail. But when he meets Aria Hale ... a Dragonblood with impossible power and a pull he can't explain ... everything shifts. She's his mentor. She's forbidden. And if he's not careful... she'll be his downfall. Born a Dragon Blood - Aria Hale is a rare and legendary descendant of ancient dragon riders whose magic flows deeper than human blood - she stands apart from every cadet, rider, and even wingleader at Basgiath War College. Her connection to dragons isn't merely a bond; it's a living force coursing through her veins. Gifted with three signets instead of one, she has so far awakened two: the power to forge unbreakable mind-to-mind bonds with anyone she chooses, and the ability to heal others, though never herself. Her third signet remains an enigma, a dormant power waiting to be claimed. When Xaden Riorson transfers to her post after graduating, she is assigned a usual task: to train him. Her approach is firm yet kind, her presence commanding but gentle - a stark contrast to the cold rivalries that define Basgiath. As she pushes Xaden to sharpen his speed, master his own signet, and survive the brutal games riders face, he can't help but notice the strength and warmth she carries. Separated from Violet Sorrengail, the love of his life, Xaden finds himself drawn to her in ways he never expected - intrigued by the mystery of the Dragon Blood, and challenged by the quiet power she wields. But beyond personal desires, Xaden also sees her as a key player in the Venin Revolution efforts - a powerful asset whose unique gifts could tip the scales in a war that will decide the fate of kingdoms. Echos of Blood: Shadows and Scars
Auren Riorson has always walked a fine line-between shadow and steel, between survival and something more. Trained as a Rider, secretly drawn to healing, and bonded with a dangerous bloodwielding power, she can control blood itself-either to save or to destroy. Stepping into Basgiath War College, Auren finds herself back in the chaos: brutal training, cutthroat politics, and dragons circling overhead, their roars shaking the stone halls. With her loyal best friend Liam by her side and her older brother Xaden looming over every move, she has to keep her wits sharp. Because in this world, one wrong step could mean death-or worse. But graduating the war college isn't the only danger. Venin hunters, wyverns with razor-sharp teeth, and enemies hiding in plain sight are closing in. And as the stakes rise, Auren will have to face her family's deadly past, master the terrifying power she was bound with, and figure out if loyalty and love are worth the risk when everything could be ripped away in a heartbeat. ------------ if you haven't already read the Fourth Wing series... like, what are you even doing with your life?? 😂 go give rebecca yarros all the love because it's honestly one of the best series i've ever read. this fic is obviously inspired by her world, but for me it's turned into a story about love, friendship, found family, and especially the bond between siblings. a lot of it follows the storyline from fourth wing / iron flame / onyx storm, but i've changed up some of the characters, a few signets, and since onyx storm just came out-anything beyond that is just my own theories and imagination making it my own thing. and hey, if it's not your vibe... totally fine. don't read it, I'm sure there are sooo many other good ones out there! 🖤 and nooo i'm not telling you who Auren's romance arc is-you'll just have to keep guessing 👀Complete

Lila Morgan didn't expect to wake up after she jumped. And she definitely didn't expect to wake up in the world of Fourth Wing-the book that once kept her going through the darkest nights. But this isn't a dream. It's not fiction. And survival here demands more than knowledge of what's "supposed" to happen. Now living under the name Liora Emberveil, she tells herself this is a second chance. A chance to become someone stronger. Better. Someone worth something. She throws herself into the role of a fictional heroine; confident, brave, untouchable. But no matter how fast she runs, she can't outrun herself. Because the truth is: Lila didn't come here healed. She came here broken. She's anxious, self-destructive, and still carrying the weight of a life she didn't want to live. And the more she tries to control the story, the more it spirals. Every decision rewrites the future she thought she knew. Every connection threatens the mask she's carefully built. And when she catches the attention of Xaden Riorson-a man who sees too much-her carefully drawn lines begin to blur. ⭐︎★If you enjoy this story on Wattpad but want options, it's also available on AO3! Fourth wing (XADEN POV)
Xaden Riorson, son of the great betrayer and the most powerful rider of this generation. Follow the empyrean series through his eyes. Follows books as close as possible with a few extra scenes. The first few chapters before threshing will be a little rushed because I'm more interested in writing about Xaden and Violets relationship!! Credits to Rebecca Yarros for story line and characters!
Boundlight - Liam Mairi
Every heartbeat I touched stitched itself into me, burning threads of light under my skin. Some were fleeting sparks, gone before I could breathe. Others were storms, all rage and fire. But his - Liam's - was different. Unyieling. Fierce. It anchored me when everything else threatened to shatter me. I should have feared it. Bond this deep were dangerous. They bled, they broke, they destroyed. Fainne warned me that feeling too much could shatter even the strongest rider. And yet, when his hand brushed mine, when his presence steadied the chaos inside me, I craved more. More of his fire. More of his light. Even if it meant I'd burn. - A Liam Mairi x OC fanfiction. Friends to lovers. Angst. Slow burns. !DISCLAIMER! All characters (apart for the OC) belong to Rebecca Yarros
Shadowbound
In a world where power is earned through blood and fire, Thalia Veyne was never meant to survive. She had spent the last few years of her life hated for the sins of her parents. The relic etched into her skin is a constant reminder of how people viewed her, a traitor. Now she was off to what was meant to be a death sentence for most, Basgaith War College. But the deadliest danger of all is the one who she never saw coming: Xaden Riorson. He is the Rebellion's heir, a warrior forged in war, a man with shadows at his command. And from the moment they cross blades, they are drawn together. The deeper she falls, the more she realizes: some battles aren't fought with daggers and dragons. Some are waged within the heart. In a war where making the wrong decision means death, love may be the most dangerous weapon of all.

Hear The Dragon's Song
You've read Liam Mairi's story. You know how it goes. How it ends. But what if there was more to his tale? And what if it included someone already in his story the entire time? She has her own history, her own shameful past, her own secrets. But what if she's destined to change the course of not only his life, but the fate of everyone else on The Continent? And Liam? He cannot tell a soul about her. Not even Xaden Riorson. We follow Liam through his own story whilst keeping a secret that may very well get him killed, alongside every other marked one in Basgaith before Threshing. Trigger warnings: Violence, descriptions of injuries, hints at SA, physical and mental abuse, torture, sexual activities, graphic language and death. If you are sensitive to any of these topics, please consider them before reading on. Author's Note: This story is inspired by the incredible Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. If you have not read Fourth Wing yet, please go read it first, as a lot of context will not make sense if you're not familiar. I am so incredibly proud of this story, I've had this idea since last year and have spent months planning and now writing this version of Liam's life. I do plan to post chapters weekly, but life sometimes gets in the way! (Also if you see any little mistakes A: No you don't and B: I have raging ADD so sometimes editing gets rather boring.) All rights, characters and original story reserved to Rebecca Yarros & Piatkus Publishing.
Iron Strength : The Empyrean Series
Reagan was always left out and pushed aside, always forgotten about. Living with a foster family who were as loyal to the Crown of Navarre as the King himself, she felt very unprepared for Conscription Day. She had no training to become a Dragon Rider- even the other Relic kids ignored her. Now at 20 she's forced into the Riders Quadrant, where her chance of surviving until Threshing is almost zero. Ride or die. Those are her options. However, the longer she survives, the more she feels that maybe... Just maybe she might have a shot, maybe even bond a dragon, find some friends. The longer she survives, the more she questions her past, one she always thought she knew, but now...? She needs to figure out who she is and how she fits into this rebellion war around her. •§• Takes place during Iron Flame (Book 2 of The Empyrean Series - "Fourth Wing" - by Rebecca Yarros- all rights of the world and her characters ext to her) *will have Iron Flame and Onyx Storm spoilers*

TwinBorn / Fourth Wing
Aveline Sorrengail. The one some wished to be, and the one others never wanted to meet. Trained since childhood, bruised, beaten and bloodied, she always succeeded. Whether that was through strength, or pure anger, no one knew. She was meant to be a rider, and everyone knew it. To protect her dear sister wouldn't be much of obstacle right? Nor would the marked ones be much of an issue in the quadrant, no matter how much they hated her mother. She wasn't just going to remove any obstacles in her way. She was going to obliterate them. DISCLAIMER! I do not own fourth wing, or any of the characters written by the rightful author, Rebecca Yarros, only my own characters. This is just my adaptation of the story.
Death, Dragons & Dumb Decisions
Surviving the Riders Quadrant is hard enough, but surviving it while keeping a massive secret? That's just plain reckless. Nyx Greycastle-well, that's the name she's using-has spent her life surrounded by dragons, but pretending to be just another first-year cadet at Basgiath War College is proving more difficult than she expected. Between sadistic instructors, bloodthirsty rivals, and an annoyingly handsome wingleader who keeps looking at her like he knows something, staying under the radar is impossible. Oh, and there's also the minor issue of not dying before Threshing. With secrets, enemies, and an ever-growing number of dumb decisions piling up, Nyx is in for the deadliest three years of her life. But if she wants to claim a dragon-and live long enough to turn the tide of a secret war-she'll have to prove she's more than just a name. Because in the Riders Quadrant, survival isn't guaranteed. It's earned. Updated on AO3 first under the same name. I do not own the characters, only Aelin Tauri/ Nyx Greycastle, please let me know if you are enjoying

Danielle and Xaden both have taken the responsibility of the marked ones, leading to the two of them having to stone their place in Navarre. Danielle's had a crush on him for more than a decade, but she knows he doesn't see her in that way, or does she? But she has a deep secret-the darkest among many-she's not who she says she is. She has more to hide than the entire ocean, and she's surprisingly good at that because, like her father always said, she always gets what she wants. The Thorned Rose
A dragon without its rider is a tragedy. A rider without their dragon is dead. And Rose Sorrengail has spent her entire life making sure she will be neither. Born strong where her twin sister Violet was fragile, Rose is a force forged in fire-bold, brutal, and unrelenting. While Violet stumbles unwillingly into the Riders Quadrant, Rose charges forward, determined to carve out her own legend within Basgiath War College. But surviving Conscription Day is just the beginning. In a world where strength is currency and dragons don't bond with the weak, Rose quickly becomes known-for her precision, her ruthlessness... and the trail of blood left in her wake. Her enemies fear her. Her instructors warn about her. And Xaden Riorson-lethal wingleader with shadows in his eyes-can't seem to stay away. With war looming, and a rare power awakening within her, Rose must decide what kind of rider she'll become-and what she's willing to sacrifice to protect what's hers. In Basgiath, only the ruthless survive. And Rose Sorrengail was born to conquer.
