Loki had always been smart. Too smart for his own good. So, as a kid, he quickly learnt the answer to the above: when you allow yourself to hope. For him, it was in the form of a fiery spark believing he was worthy.

"When does a mistake become the blame?"
A mistake he did not even intend to make. Because he was Jotunn. He didn't belong.

"When does home become a prison?"
He never understood how Asgard slowly progressed to be one. Oh, nevermind, he does. It was when they shut the door in his face.
