For the most part, Hiro Hamada, was not your average 14-year-old, mainly because he was a super genius who had graduated high school at the age of just 13 years old, but also because he was secretly a participator in bot fighting, and betting on bot fighting. For Hiro, it was a passion he couldn't give up, and the fact that he was actually great at it, didn't make it any easier to stop. However, keeping a secret as big as his isn't always easy, and maintaining the image of a 14 year old super genius, who isn't filthy rich, has its own hiccups.
