Sixteen year old Syntyche never had an easy life. An outcast from a young age, the only times she was truly happy was when she trained with her best friend, Achilles, under her mentor, Athena, in their secret clearing. When both Achilles and Syntyche are chosen for the funeral games, an annual competition where two of the strongest champions of each olympian competed for the chance to be one of the great heroes, they are determined to be the first to ever win together. But there can only be one winner of the funeral games, and the tale of tragedy is a very old one. Soon, Achilles and Syntyche find themselves having to choose between each other- and the crown. Will they make it out together, or will they fall victim to the trap that ensnared so many before them?
