"But it'll spoil everything."

"That's literally what descriptions are for."

"Fine. Whatever."

My name is Star Abbott.

I'm fourteen years old, I accidentally ran into a burning building, and things have gone downhill from there.

A few weeks ago my biggest problems were school, homework, and my little sister Jamie. Then a fire at Westvale Academy changed everything.

Now I can create light with my bare hands.

Which sounds cool.

It is not cool.

Okay, sometimes it's cool.

But mostly it's terrifying.

As Star struggles to understand her impossible new abilities, she discovers that Westvale is hiding more secrets than anyone realizes. Between mysterious incidents, dangerous enemies, increasingly questionable life choices, and a growing habit of risking her life for strangers, Star finds herself pulled into a world much bigger than she ever imagined.

Turns out becoming a hero is a lot harder than comic books make it look.

Especially when you're still trying to pass freshman year.
