After 10 years of working for Team Rainbow Rocket, agents Rosie and Amber have lived life in the Magma Branch closed off from the rest of the world. As they get older, they become more curious about where they came from and who their parents are, no longer convinced by the curt answers they've been given over the years.

13 years ago, Giovanni was humiliated by Ash Ketchum and his comrades, forcing him to go into hiding. Tired of being embarrassed and hiding because of what happened, he did something unspeakable, some that tore not only Ash's life apart but his comrades' lives as well. Now Giovanni wants more, he wants their information and for them to be gone for good.

When Rosie and Amber conspire to travel to Kanto for answers, they're discovered and punished with guarding prisoners on the night shift. As time goes on, Rosie and Amber along with members from other branches, begin to suspect something isn't right with the prisoners and the goals of Team Rainbow Rocket might not be as they seem. As the group of unlikely friends searches for answers, they may uncover a truth about Team Rainbow Rocket that is far more sinister than any of them ever imagined.
