Victoria was a chef. After losing her reputation as a bold, determined and independent chef back on Earth, she was inclined to take this new job offer: serving food for astronauts in space.

One thing that added to her already tarnished reputation was Jimmy, her brother. After he had already returned from multiple trips from space, Curly offered her a place aboard the Tulpar.

"Can't be that bad. Just a few trips, making food as it goes."

Meanwhile, Anya too, had a bad reputation, having failed her entrance exams eight times. She, too began work in Pony Express simply because there was no other way to follow her passion.
