In the twists and turns of the Middle Ages, an aristocratic family sees its destiny change when their eldest daughter, hastily married to a young count, returns to the family estate to end her life before the eyes of her young younger sister. This indelible tragedy marks her soul forever.
Years later, the youngest is united with a powerful, respected, but terrifyingly cold duke. This marriage, far from being a refuge, becomes an ordeal: under the iron hand of her husband, she endures humiliation and suffering. The duke, calculating and devoid of all gentleness, seems incapable of loving.
