Looking-Glass

Footfalls in the snow melt the quickest-- give rise to newborn greens and fragile stems betwisting through brittle ice as they reach for the warmth of a promised spring. Eyes of blue coated in ice are no different. In time, their frost will wane; give way to the heat of the sun who beckons with the grace and kindness of everything right in the world.

Her arms are strong, yet delicate. Brilliant light cascading, blinding through summer's canopy to dazzle the world in hues and colors beauty bright he only believed existed in nature and the Fade-- he sees her.
His arms are strong, yet gentle. Feather-light touches, kindness unending. Drowning within, pebbles shift to the bottom of a basin, bubbles drifting to float aloft the waves, he is the adventure she's sought forever-- she sees him.
A home built between, a breath shared throughout. Again and again and again. To burn, to fall to ash-- and meld together, again. Again.

Or a story of Cole slowly becoming human as Inquisitor Shale finds further confidence in her role, the two gradually finding deep love and security in one another.
