After the death of his girlfriend, Vanessa, Wade Wilson is a complete wreck. He finds himself practically living at Sister Margaret's, and Weasel begins to grow worried about his immortal friend.
So, when (Y/N) (L/N), a merc-in-training, walks in, Weasel has the brilliant idea of pairing the two together on missions. After all, (Y/N) needs the training, and Wade needs the emotional support to get back in the merc game.
Weasel's plan works out for a while. Wade is recovering, and he is slowly morphing back into his old self. But, things don't go as planned when he begins to fall for his new partner in crime. This is terrifying for him, given what happened to the last person he fell for. He is doing what he knows will hurt him. He is falling in love with the girl he can't love.
As he works with her, he realizes that his fears of losing her might be closer to reality than he had hoped. After all, the mercenary lifestyle isn't for everyone, especially for a passionate girl like (Y/N).
