The Spark Between Us

Avery Quinn, 18, is a straight A student, the perfect daughter, and a promising college-bound young woman. Raised in a family where perfection is expected, Avery hides her struggles and desires behind a mask of achievement. Her life is a carefully crafted image of success, but she feels like she's suffocating under the weight of others' expectations. She dreams of freedom and something real, but is terrified of disappointing her family.

Jasper Ford, 19, is the school's "bad boy" with a reputation for trouble. A loner with a rough exterior, Jasper has been ostracized because of his past mistakes. He's recently returned to town after spending a year in a reform school, trying to rebuild his life. He's a wildcard, emotionally scarred, and has learned to keep everyone at arm's length. He's not interested in fitting in or conforming, and he doesn't care what anyone thinks of him.

The story takes place in a small town with a stark divide between the wealthy families who run the town's elite schools and the underprivileged areas that Jasper comes from. Avery's family is at the top of the social ladder, while Jasper's family represents the "wrong side of the tracks."
