Trigger warning: very descriptive scenes of Gore and death('s plural) continue at your own risk, I don't put trigger warnings on most chapters.

It's not that I don't care, it's aesthetically unpleasant and takes away from the experience.
IMO.

(Story inspired by the popular indie game Cult Of The Lamb)

Lazarus is the last of her kind. Her people once lived quietly in the shadows of the Old Faith-until the Bishops hunted them to extinction. Alone and broken, Lazarus finds herself bound by a fate she never sought: a deal with a mysterious feline figure who grants her life... at a cost. To repay this gift, she must build a cult in his name, wielding powers she doesn't want for a god she doesn't understand.

But there's a problem: Lambs don't believe in cults, nor does she. Awkwardly stumbling through rituals, mimicking the actions of others, she fakes her way through leadership. To them, she's their shepherd. To herself, a fraud.

As the weight of her pact presses down on her, the haunting memory of her species' slaughter grows sharper. Slowly, she realizes his borrowed power could be more than just a means to serve-it could be a weapon. A weapon for vengeance.

Naula was never meant to be part of the empire. The night her parents died, she was taken in by her father's brother-a man who ruled an underground legacy of silent killers. Raised within The Sovereign Veil, an elite assassination syndicate that had never fallen in decades, she was trained to be invisible, to be deadly, to be a shadow in the world of the living. Alongside her adopted brother, Key, she perfected the art of death. They moved like ghosts, unseen and untouchable, carrying the weight of a legacy they never asked for. The world feared The Sovereign Veil, but inside its walls, Naula and Key feared something greater-themselves. Key was loyal-too loyal. But in the dead of night, when the blood on his hands wouldn't wash away, she saw it in his eyes. The desperation. The need to be free. He was a soldier bound by duty, yet his heart longed to escape the chains of their bloodstained empire. He knew the curse that loomed over them-the whispered prophecy that if The Sovereign Veil ever fell, a reckoning would come. A fate worse than death. Still, Key wondered. Could he be the one to burn it all down? Could he betray his own father-the man who raised him, trained him, made him into a weapon? And if he did, what would Naula do? She was not just another assassin. She was the assassin-the leader of The Phantom Regalia, the empire's most feared executioners. The shadows obeyed her command, and the world trembled at her name. If she stood with Key, she would be turning against everything she had been molded to be. But if she chose the empire, she would be sealing her brother's fate. Blood or freedom. Duty or betrayal. One choice will break the empire. One choice will break them. And in the end, no one escapes The Sovereign Veil.

The last of Lambkind was brought to slaughter by the four prophets who called themselves gods, who feared a future prophecy of one of Lambkind overthrowing their rule and religion; with a desperate attempt made by these four gods to save themselves, they began the genocide of all lamb kind a near millennium ago. As a result, their efforts were almost successful as they had wiped out every last lamb, except one who would soon have its head removed from its body. With a mighty swing of the executioner's axe, the last of the lambs were killed, and the four gods could finally sigh in relief; however, that one act only set the prophecy in motion and revealed another problem that was not foretold by the prophecy that was much worse than a lamb. (Hating myself for trying to make this but what the hell here we go)
