Penelope was born into a world where she doesn't quite belong. The newborn daughter of Marie, one half of the famous Squid Sisters, Penelope is an octoling-rare, mysterious, and different from the usual inkling. While her family, including her cousin Callie, shines in the world of music and performance, Penelope feels an unshakable connection to the ocean. But there's one harsh rule: from the moment they're born, all octolings and inklings must sever their bond with the water. If they ever try to enter it, they will die and respawn, forever cut off from the sea.

Penelope's tiny tentacles instinctively reach for the waves, a pull she'll never fully satisfy. Her mother, Marie (24), and her cousin Callie (24) try their best to comfort her, but they can't understand the depths of Penelope's longing. Meanwhile, Penelope's younger sister Maya (9) and cousin Trinity (12) feel her sadness, but they are too young to understand its weight.

Then, everything changes when Callie is kidnapped.

Callie, the beloved Squid Sister, is taken by none other than DJ Octavio, the notorious leader of the Octarians. He's always had a vendetta against the inklings, and now, with Callie in his grasp, it seems he plans to use her for some nefarious purpose. Marie is frantic, and the family is thrown into chaos.

Penelope, though just a newborn, feels the absence of her cousin deeply. The ocean grows eerily quiet, and something about the silence feels wrong. The connection between the water and the octolings feels strained. Desperate to help, Penelope's only ally is Shiver, a 21-year-old octoling from the music duo Deep Cut. Shiver, who knows the pain of being disconnected from the ocean, may hold the key to understanding the mysterious forces at play.

With Shiver's guidance, Penelope begins to uncover the truth about DJ Octavio's plans and the strange silence consuming the sea. Together, they must unravel the mystery before it's too late to save Callie-and perhaps the ocean itself.
