She was stuck in a wolf's body, unable to break free from the curse that was placed on her by Katherine Pierce. She loathed the vampire. Anastasia was forced to live the life of a dog under the care of Mason Lockwood, who, to her dismay, didn't know she was a werewolf. One day, when Mason got a call informing him that his brother had passed away and Katherine's plan with the moonstone, he decided to return to Mystic Falls and bring Anastasia along.
