The cat sat motionless on the windowsill, it's green eyes glowing in the dim light. The lifeless body of a man lay sprawled on the floor, a crimson pool seeping into the rug beneath him.
Detective Novák crouched, inspecting the faint scratches on the man's neck. "Strangulation," she murmured, noting the marks.
Behind her, the cat let out a low, rumbling purr.
"Looks like the only witness we've got," Officer Papadopoulos muttered.
Novák turned, meeting the cat's unblinking stare. "𝘖𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘳," she contemplated.
The purring grew louder.
