Sophie Bradford may seem like your normal seventeen year old girl, that lives a normal teenage life. Partying with friends, staying out at night, fails classes, and could use a major attitude adjustment. Sophie isn't like the other girls that attend Bergman High. Sophie isn't the type to socialize, she keeps to herself most of the time and hardly talks, she gets all her schoolwork done and doesn't go out partying with friends. Sophie seems like an innocent girl that has a good life, at least that's what it seems like on the outside, but no one knows what goes on in her head and at home, or what she think/feels. Kalib McCarthy is the head of the football team and the popular one in school. Kalib and Sophie are partnered up for a science project, this means many days after school together for them. A nerd and a Jock. Kalib starts to pay more attention to Sophie and notices things with her. He begins to develop a crush on Sophie, and he can't go a day without noticing her.

Meet Violet Summers. She's the sarcastic girl who doesn't really ever get noticed by anyone. She blends into any crowd because of how "normal" she is. And she loves it. She wouldn't be able to stand the attention of everyone around her. That's why she won't tell Ryan Bloore, her crush for three years, that she practically worships the ground he walks on. Ryan is the captain of the basketball team at their school, so guys see him like he's a god and girls act like he walks on water. If they were to date, all eyes would be on her- she would be under everyone's scrutiny. So she's kept her feelings a secret, and she's done her best to suppress her emotions these past years, but she's realized that she's been so caught up in making people not notice her that she didn't realize how lonely she would be when no one was watching. Now meet Ryder Knight. School bad boy. Quarterback captain and heartthrob. The kind that wears a leather jacket and has tattoos all over his arms. The one who shows up to school riding a motorcycle. Just your average run of the mill "if you get involved with this guy, you will meet some serious trouble" kind of male. Well, too bad for Violet, she's stuck with him now. After all of the years of pushing away her feelings for Ryan because of her fear of being seen, she is now all anyone can look at- because of Ryder. Because of him, she can feel their stares, and she hates him for it. The longer they spend time together, the more Ryder starts to realize he actually enjoys being around her-despite her snarky comments about how much she despises him. And if Violet is being completely honest with herself, she's also starting to realize she might not actually hate the fact that people are noticing her now, but hate the way Ryder makes her feel.
