The Elixir (A dystopian post-apocalyptic novel)

The efforts to look for a cure for lung cancer went sideways.
Humanity is doomed.
The people who were meant to protect the city have abondened it and its citizens.
A substance has been created. It'd been passed and authorized as a tested and safe for cancer patients in various stages of the illness.
But what happens when the cure becomes the disease? What would become of those who couldn't flee when monsters that were once their families started hunting them down? Was there anyone who benefited from this catastrophe?
The Elixir is a post apocalypse novel that tells the story of a group of peopleand how they lived through the pandemic of hungery people who were out for blood. It's told from the point of view of view of different individuals from all around the city who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
