The Sacred

The story follows Corbin, a sixteen-year-old orphan living in the Abbey of St. Graeth, where he was taken in after his parents died from the Red Sleep disease. While performing his daily duties at the abbey, Corbin maintains a secret friendship with Till, a magical creature known as a grogoch who belongs to the fae folk.

Corbin finds contentment in his life at the monastery under the kindly guidance of Father Piran. Until Corbin bears witness to raiders from the Enni tribe attacking the abbey. He watches in horror as they brutally murder the monks and set fire to the buildings. When spotted, Corbin flees into the forest pursued by the raiders, but Till saves him using unexpected fae magic.

The story sets up themes of loss, revenge, and the intersection between the Christian world Corbin was raised in and the ancient magical realm of the fae. It positions Corbin at a crossroads between these two worlds as he must decide how to respond to the violent destruction of everything he held dear.
