Nico decided that he needed a change of scenery, with the war against Gaia done he wanted to explore a bit maybe even find a place he really feels at home, sure camp half blood is his home but he still feels uncomfortable there, he has Will to make it better but the memories of the other campers ignoring his always stayed even if they treat him better now.
So of course he got chased by some hell hounds into the most dangerous city in America (considerably the world).

Weakness
It was an inside joke. Each of the 'batfam' had a weakness. No one - not even Alfred - knew Batman's. Damian's was easy; Damian's was the heat. Couldn't stand it; he got way too hot way too quickly. Tim's was the dark. Was never found asleep without either a light on or the door open with a light on outside. Jason's was water. He couldn't hold his breath and had panic attacks when he had prolonged contact; say he was in a pool. Dick had two; cold and poison. He froze in twelve degrees (C) and never left the house with a jacket on. And the poison traveled at least three times as fast through his bloodstream as he didn't clot easily. Alfred had one too; as impossible as it seems.
