In the blink of an eye, young Vero's world shatters when he witnesses the brutal murder of his parents by ruthless debt collectors. Hidden beneath the floorboards, his small body quakes with terror and grief, his heart pounding in his ears. As the killers leave, Vero is paralyzed with fear and sorrow, but also ignited by an unyielding will to survive.

He bolts from his shattered home, his legs fueled by despair and desperation, until he stumbles upon a small, secluded village. Here, an unexpected sanctuary awaits him in the form of a kind yet enigmatic man. This man, an outcast from a notorious family of assassins, senses the fire and potential within the boy.

Under the shadow of his new mentor, Vero learns the ancient and deadly arts of the assassins. With each passing year, he hones his skills, transforming from a frightened child into a master of stealth and lethality. His mentor, frail and burdened by his own past, passes on everything he knows before succumbing to the inevitable embrace of death, leaving Vero alone once again, but stronger than ever.

As Vero steps into his new life, he becomes a ghost in the night, taking on jobs that grow increasingly brutal and soul-wrenching. The once innocent boy becomes a feared and respected assassin, driven by the memories of his lost family and the lessons of his fallen mentor. Each mission pushes him further into the darkness, yet he clings to a faint glimmer of hope for redemption and a future untainted by bloodshed.

WATTPAD BOOKS EDITION There are imperfect moments in every life-but sometimes, there are perfect accidents . . . What's the point of pretending nothing has changed when everything has? It's the last summer before college, and Jonas Avery knows he should be excited. Instead, he hides out at home, avoiding his friends, his family, and everything that resembles his old life. Because nothing will be normal again-because of The Accident, when everything started falling apart. Brennan Davis knows she needs to stand up and face her anxiety-the deep, dark, debilitating dread that rules her everyday life. Because what stops her from going out into the world and just living is going to get a whole lot worse. She's leaving for college in the fall, where she'll be confronted with even more to worry about. To get back up sometimes you have to fall down, hard . . . When Jonas crashes into Brennan-in a harmless, albeit embarrassing fender bender-the two teens connect in ways they never expected. As friends, they help each other overcome their biggest falls and faults, and soon discover that while love can't fix everything, it's sometimes a place to start. Sensitive, wry, and unabashedly authentic, The Opposite of Falling Apart isn't about finding perfection in another person or fixing the things we think are broken. Instead, Micah Good has penned an enchantingly honest novel about accepting the very pieces of ourselves that make us unique, whole, and undeniably human.
