You only die once. He does not.

For every of Mask of Skyview City, death is just another occupational hazard that comes with being a superhero. Well 'almost' every Mask.
Regeant, The Undying Man has the power to return from the grave, time and time again. But there is a heavy price to be paid, as with each death he risks a piece of his memory slipping away, and he is now left with only fragmented memories of his past.
Adding to his woes, the villains of Skyview are dominating the battle-field, and excelling in their fight against justice. A faceless new enemy has been working from the sidelines, pulling the strings on all the Dark Masks in the city - and to great effect.
As the remaining heroes of Skyview are slowly drawn into a deadly game of shadows, it becomes clear that someone must lead them. One who does not fear death. One who does not fear anything.
Regeant is the one, and he has a plan.
Facing the greatest threat the city has ever known, he'll encounter dangerous new enemies, form unexpected friendships, deal with the headache of separating professionalism & 'romance' in a melodramatic world of superheroes, and perhaps - before the end - understand just what it means to be a Mask, and what it means to be human.

WARNING: CONTAINING AMOUNTS OF SASS PREVIOUSLY UNKNOWN TO MANKIND In the city of NYC--- Ok. Hold up. First of all, New York City. What, are ya gonna assume everyone here knows what NYC is? Anyway, this is about two people. I can almost hear you rolling your eyes. Another cliché teen fiction with a bad boy and a good girl? Nope. This is about superheroes. I can still hear you rolling your eyes. Superheroes. Like in comic books? Like people with super speed and mutant powers? Yes. But this isn't about the fight they have. More about the lives they lead without the masks. But just keep in mind, people who live in the world have all different skin colours. Do not assume my characters are of one unless I state them explicitly. and diversity is welcome here in my novel! Anyhow, back to the story. Ever wonder where supervillains go after their fight with the hero? What about the other side of the story? It's not like they sit in their lair cackling all day and planning how to kidnap reporters. What about the lives they lead? And instead of just focusing on that, what if the superhero and the supervillain knew each other? I mean, can they see behind the mask? No, so their identities are secret. So what if the hero and villain were best friends? What if they were roommates? What if they were falling for each other? And what happens when they find out? Now, I assume you know all of these questions will be answered in this book. But hold on. It's going to take a while. You're in for a bumpy ride. And if any of you got any of the references in this description, give yourself a pat on the back. That is a beautiful thing. And if you can name all the references in this book, you truly are a gift to mankind. Fangirl out.

After a careless scientific accident with new elements, people with supernatural abilities began to surface. Society adjusted, and social norms changed. Heroes and villians surfaced, making the world more complicated. Fast-forward one hundred years. Neera Sanchez fights for her survival as a supervillain. She does what she can to survive, inadvertently making her a target for the heroes. Behind her mask, she struggles in personal battles, alone. When her abusive boyfriend and her own fight against depression overtake her, she's introduced to the world of superheroes. Vincent Ciobanu is a new hero at a local base. He introduces himself to the ex-villain and takes Neera's focus away from the pain and suffering she had been used. Neera grows as she gets used to her new life. Times change and things shift for the worse as Neera's ex, Koen James, comes back into her life stronger as a supervillain, threatening the peace of the world and the freedom Neera discovered. ⚡️⚡️⚡️ Neera's eyes closed and her chest rose as she breathed deeply, trying her hardest to focus her power on the heroes nearing her. She opened her eyes, watching intently as the heroes slowly crowded on the rooftop around her. The moon illuminated their serious masked faces and flashy suits, giving Neera the opportunity to figure out what powers they might possess. She kept her eyes halfway closed and studied them. Most of the suits were at least 75% black. One hero stuck out in her blue suit. It had no black on it. Neera was wary of the color of her suit. /How did I end up here?/ One of the heroes had surprised her with a lucky hit almost a minute ago. She had felt the impact and acted on it, diving to the ground. She had a better fighting chance against the six when they were caught off guard. And if one of them had the ability to purify water, it would all go down hill. ⚡️⚡️⚡️ Romance; mental-health awareness; superheroes; abuse

Check out my Instagram page: gold_n_dark for aesthetics and songs for the chapters. One in a million. The chances of them meeting were one in a million. And yet... They met. And more came. Neither of them met love until now. Each one had different reasons. One was too stubborn, arrogant, heartless and careless to want love; the other one was too kind, happy, hopefull, optimist and dreamy to see the love around her. Maybe that's why they attracted each other. Because they completed each other. The good - her - and the bad - him. But not quite... She could also be strubborn, grumpy, proud, impulsive; and he... he would be wearing a mask. A mask which made him seem harsh and impassive. But once he would take the mask off, it would relieve the wounds, the pain, the worries, the hope and above all, the love. They have many things in common and at the same time they are completely different. They could've not met, and yet they did. They could've not fallen in love, and yet they did. They could've forget and move on, and yet, they couldn't. In Nicole and Jake's story, at the beginning everything is about hate and how they can't stand each other, about how they would give anything to not be near each other. But everything ends with love and about love. Their love. And how it consumes them and it drives them insane. But they love that. This is their story. Nicole and Jake's story. It's about love: being in love and loving someone; about being broken and hurt and hurting the people around you; about growing up and becoming an adult. It's about being human.
