Zhou Rou Rou （宙揉揉） is an ambitious girl, about to finish school. She wants to finish college, get a good job, a comfortable life and marry someone compatible. One August evening, during a heat wave she goes to the riverside and drowns. A day later she finds herself in an abandoned warehouse with a man treating a cut on her forearm. Scared, she runs out to find that the city she prided on had been razed to the ground.
"Where's everyone?" she asked him. The man beside her is silent. Rou Rou notices that he has long hair tied in a bun. He wears lose clothes that seem torn and overused. His face however appears fresh, with an ethereal glow.
"I'll get you home, Rou Rou," the man promised.
"Who are you? How do you know my name? How can I trust you?" she questioned him.
"I am Zhan Ziling （战自灵）. As for the rest you'll find out. Right now, we need to focus on staying alive," he informed.
