"Do you know the reason I couldn't go to Asia on one of the biggest missions of the year - an assignment I'd worked my butt off to get to be a part of?"

Before Livi can say anything, he abruptly whirls her around by her shoulders. She comes face to face with the half painted mirror in his studio room with Hrey looming tall behind her, watching her in the mirror with an inscrutable expression.

"You want a hint?" Without warning, his left hand skims over her waist-length hair and sweeps her mane to one side, not touching her skin but still managing to bare her shoulder. Quietly, languidly, he breathes into her ear, keeping his eyes locked on hers in the mirror. Her pulse skitters. "Here, look in the mirror in front of you. She never lies."

"Me..." It's a breathless statement rather than a question out of Livi.
