Arabella sage hawthorn didn't necessarily hate Natalie Scatorccio, but she sure knew how to get under her skin. To Natalie, Arabella known to the team as "sage" was the angelic, overly nice, and irritatingly quiet teammate who managed to be both harmless and insufferable all at once. Natalie hated her or at least, she told herself she did. It was hate-hate, not really but Arabella's overly sweet presence grated on her in ways she couldn't quite grasp. Arabella, for her part, found Natalie's constant bitterness just as exhausting.

They were polar opposites: sweetness and sharpness, sugar and vinegar. But when the strange, unforgiving wilderness became their reality, the bittersweet friction between them was the only thing that still made sense.
