Summer Rain

You come like a summer rain-unexpected, soothing, but ultimately passing. That smile of you, warm and unrelenting, felt like an oasis in the middle of the desert I had been trudging through for years. It scares me. The warmth you brought, the comfort in your deep yet soft voice and the faint scent that lingered around you-it was intoxicating dangerously. What if I get used to it? What if I became addicted to the way you made me feel? This momentary reprieve from the weight I carried... it would only hurt more if it ended badly. Better to let you go now, while I can still tell myself I haven't fallen too far.
