Set against the backdrop of the rigid and oppressive Victorian Era, eighteen-year-old Florence is trapped in a life she never chose. Pressured by her family, she is betrothed to Edward, a man she neither loves nor desires. Her heart belongs to Margaret, her spirited and fiercely loyal best friend since childhood. Their secret love has been a forbidden flame, burning brightly but quietly in the shadows of a deeply homophobic society.
As Florence walks down the aisle, bound by duty and societal expectations, she feels the weight of the life she's leaving behind. Her marriage to Edward begins a spiral of heartache, and when she discovers she's expecting his child, her dream of a life with Margaret seems impossibly distant.
But everything changes when tragedy strikes, leaving Florence at a crossroads. The death sets off a chain of events that brings her and Margaret closer than ever before. Their bond deepens, no longer something they can-or are willing to-hide.
Now, Florence and Margaret face an impossible choice: remain shackled by society's chains or risk everything-their reputations, their families, and even their lives-for the chance to live and love freely.
Please Note: ***THIS IS THE FIRST DRAFT; IT'S FAR FROM PERFECT BUT I FIGURED I'D POST TO SEE IF YOU ALL LIKE IT***
Eighteen-year-old cadet Lara Lorensky has one goal: to win the Selection, the only way people on Earth can ascend to NovaTopia, a utopia-like space shuttle orbiting the planet. Unfortunately, her longtime rival, Morgan Sánchez, also has the same goal--and their almost undefeated record in practices is Lara's biggest obstacle to victory.
When an unexpected terrorist attack destroys Morgan's cyber arm, Lara's chances to win are significantly increased. But... what is the point of winning if her rival is not in their top condition?
Plagued by guilt and a feeling she does not quite understand yet, Lara decides to help Morgan find their cyberlimb mechanic. As she ventures outside her sheltered bubble, Lara realizes that everything she was taught was a lie, including her identity. Perhaps the utopia she was fighting for all her life was also an illusion.
Together, Lara and Morgan have a new goal: to find out the truth of Lara's identity--and the truth behind NovaTopia.
