Megumi Fushiguro was a shy kid growing up. He never made close bonds with anyone. He had little to no friends, but he was okay with that. He didn't need a lot of people to make his life more complicated.
Yuji Itadori was an outgoing child, and he carried that with him his whole life. He was popular with his classmates and he had many friends. But all he wanted was a deep relationship with someone. More than the shallow friendships he had at school.
If the two ever met, no one would ever expect them to become friends. But, expectations are different from reality, and the two boys would learn that very quickly.
