Shadow hates humanity for taking Maria away from him and his home he thought that all of them were evil however when a 12 year old who is a human and suffers from something very traumatic Hotaru Tomoe has been held captive by G.U.N. for a long time and when she protects Shadow from the soldiers of G.U.N. and got shot when he woke up. Her reason for doing this is that she doesn't want anyone to suffer her fate. Shadow decides to spare Hotaru from being destroyed with the other humans he takes her around with him not letting G.U.N. treat her like a doll any longer.
