Purdey Childs; beautiful, sassy, thirty-something New Zealander living in London and at a decisive point in her life bumps into the smooth Imani ‘Manny’ Brown at her favourite drinking spot on a hot summer’s day. Their first encounter starts off acrimoniously but soon the two would develop an emotional and intense friendship neither was expecting – but one that would lead them down a road of unfettered sexual trysts, temptation, betrayal and finally, redemption.

For Purdey, Manny turns out to be a man she can depend on to share her many heartaches and most intimate secrets, whilst the happily married Manny would discover in Purdey a woman in her sexual prime but possessing a naiveté which turns out to be the source of all her man-troubles.
Then there is the problem of keeping their friendship purely platonic in the face of deep physical and emotional needs.
