Their deaths seem unsolvable - well, not for Misane. Misane Pierre-Decroix, a 24-year-old investigative journalist at the Toronto Star and their granddaughter, vows to bring their killer to justice. One issue, Misane has a peculiar set of abilities, or superpowers, at her disposal - which shouldn't be possible. Made even worse when she enlists the help of Alice Kode, a longtime friend, or friend with benefits, Nadine "Twenty" Bellman, an ex-TPS Officer turned Private Investigator, and catches the attention of Three FBI Agents: Ethan Kaineford, Lockton Ryles, and Carmen Ziegler.
Known to the citizens of Toronto as "The Vigilante", Misane is put on a collision course with the Toronto Criminal Underworld, her old High School Rival and Toronto Socialite Maxine Rivers, and infamous serial killer known as "The Bone Doctor". Felix Jaynes is a special agent for the Real Life Immersion Program (also known as RLIP). A few months ago, she had a traumatic experience that caused her to go from a confident agent who was a phenomenal expert in her field, to suddenly doubting her career. She has recently been sent to an extremely rural town called Toselville. Her mission: find the middle aged son of two weapons designers who created blueprints for the United States government. Ashton is there to hopefully win Felix's heart, and Felix is there strictly on business, hoping to get information for her case...or so she keeps telling herself. Against Wolf's initial words of wisdom, Felix finds herself thinking about Ashton and accepts his invitation to go out on a date. But Felix accidentally blows her cover, and soon, Ashton is attacked. Felix was able to save him once, but now her enemies will stop at nothing to get to them. Felix is reassigned to a new mission...witness protection for Ashton and herself. Their budding romantic relationship comes to a sharp halt as they now have to focus on working together to survive. They can run, but they know their enemies are never far behind. Adlet Blacksteel is the newest edition to the E.H.P.D., his skills and experience as a hostage extractor makes him an invaluable edition. Joined by his new partner, Jenna Jones, he pursues a secretive manhunt for the Soldiers Of The New World, an underground E.H. crime organization that has a hand in all that is illegal, and their mysterious leader: String, who, seemingly, has eyes and ears everywhere. While Adlet and Jenna intend on doing this by the books, their unsavory past with two of String's captains may muddy their judgement, or, more accurately, it already has. As String's ambitions grow beyond just controlling the city's underbelly Adlet and Jenna are forced to take action with an ally he did not desire. While prejudice against E.H.s reaches it's peak because of a horrific tragedy, the Soldiers of the New World waste no time to expand their reach and rally for their cause of taking over the city.
