Heatwave and Quickshadow are a happily married couple and they live in Fort Worth Texas. Heatwave is a firefighter and Quickshadow is a pediatric oncologist who works at Cook Children's hospital. They are happy with their life and soon they have a son. They name him Hot shot. They love Hot shot very much. Hot shot is growing into a very happy and active child. He loves to run, jump, climb and play. He is now five years old. Hot shot soon begins to feel unwell in May. Hot shot is wondering why he is feeling so bad. He has a headache that won't go away, he is vomiting, he is tired, and he is cranky. He is feeling so bad one night his parents rush him to the ER of Cook Children's hospital. There Hot shot is admitted for being sick and was in a lot of pain. A hospitalist who is caring for Hot shot is worried and decides a scan is needed. The next morning she sends Hot shot to get an MRI. Then Hot shot is discovered to have a brain tumor. The brain tumor gets a biopsy sample. Then Hot shot is diagnosed with Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor or ATRT a type of brain cancer. Hot shot is ready to be brave and fight his cancer. He makes friends with seven other kids in the hospital with the same type of cancer. They become the best of friends and decide to fight their cancer together. Hot shot is a five year old boy. He lives with his parents Heatwave and Quickshadow. They were living in a town in Maine. Then they move to Fort Worth Texas when his dad gets a job transfer. Hot shot starts to like his new home a lot. Hot shot is a very active and playful child. He loves to run, jump, climb and play. He is a very kind, caring, smart and brave little boy with a great big heart. Hot shot has been a very healthy boy. But soon after the move Hot shot begins to feel unwell. He has a painful left ankle, he is limping, he has a fever, he is tired, and he has a lump on his ankle. His parents take him to Cook Children's Hospital because Hot shot seems to be getting worse and didn't want to wait till next week with his new pediatrician. The doctors at the hospital do tests to find out why Hot shot is sick. Then Hot shot is diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma a type of bone cancer. Hot shot is brave and ready to fight his cancer head on. Hot shot makes friends with four other children his age with the same type of cancer. They become the best of friends and are going to fight their cancer together.
