I had never believed in the supernatural, at least not until I moved into the old house at the edge of town. It had been empty for years, and the neighbors warned me it was "unsettling," but I didn't listen. I thought they were just superstitious, a town full of old tales.

From the moment I stepped inside, something felt wrong. The house groaned and creaked as if it had been holding its breath for years. The air was thick, and despite all my efforts to clean, dust seemed to reappear within hours. But what really unnerved me was the sound.

At night, when the world outside went quiet, the walls whispered.

It was soft at first-almost inaudible. A low murmur that seemed to come from the deepest corners of the house. I'd lie awake, staring into the darkness, straining to hear. But each time I tried to focus, it would stop, only to start again moments later. I thought it was the house settling, old pipes or perhaps the wind. I tried to ignore it.

Then came the first incident.

It was a cold evening in October, the wind howling outside like some distant wail. I had just finished dinner when I heard it-a voice. A soft, breathless whisper from the farthest room in the house, where I had left the door slightly ajar. The voice wasn't clear, but I could make out one word: "Help."

I froze. My heart thudded in my chest. I had lived alone for years. Who could possibly be in the house? I grabbed a flashlight and crept to the room, my breath shaky. But when I opened the door, there was nothing there. No one.

I convinced myself it was just a trick of my mind, the house playing games with me. But then the whispers began to change.
