My eyes shot open but was suddenly blinded by the bright lights that shone around me. I groaned and closed my eyes again as I fought the dots that clouded my vision.
"Dannon!" Leo screamed as he lunged and hugged me tightly. "Oh my - Dan! You don't know how long I have waited for you to wake up! I came here everyday just to check on you." He word vomited, but I just coughed in response.
"Oh sorry." He said as picked himself off me and pressed the nurse button on my bed.
"The doctor needs to check up on you." He smiled brightly. "I'm so glad you are awake again. Everyone will be."
"W-what...h-happened?"I said weakly. Whoa...that's what I sound like? All small and uneven? Maybe I should keep my vow of silence.
He stared at me in disbelief...probably because this is the first time he has heard me speak in eight years.
"Oh. U-um. T-the d-doctor should t-tell you." He stuttered, still in shock of my first words.
I nodded. No more speaking from me. Not now.
-why not? You need to practice. You sound like a little girl.-
You're still here?!?
-Well duh. You still have drugs in your system. AND you're a little loopy right now. But I think I will stay though, you need a conversation buddy.-
Nope. Not with you.
-Yep. It's settled. I'm staying.... I am you after all. -

WATTPAD BOOKS EDITION There are imperfect moments in every life-but sometimes, there are perfect accidents . . . What's the point of pretending nothing has changed when everything has? It's the last summer before college, and Jonas Avery knows he should be excited. Instead, he hides out at home, avoiding his friends, his family, and everything that resembles his old life. Because nothing will be normal again-because of The Accident, when everything started falling apart. Brennan Davis knows she needs to stand up and face her anxiety-the deep, dark, debilitating dread that rules her everyday life. Because what stops her from going out into the world and just living is going to get a whole lot worse. She's leaving for college in the fall, where she'll be confronted with even more to worry about. To get back up sometimes you have to fall down, hard . . . When Jonas crashes into Brennan-in a harmless, albeit embarrassing fender bender-the two teens connect in ways they never expected. As friends, they help each other overcome their biggest falls and faults, and soon discover that while love can't fix everything, it's sometimes a place to start. Sensitive, wry, and unabashedly authentic, The Opposite of Falling Apart isn't about finding perfection in another person or fixing the things we think are broken. Instead, Micah Good has penned an enchantingly honest novel about accepting the very pieces of ourselves that make us unique, whole, and undeniably human.
