Annika Hoffmann, 20, the working-class daughter of a Socialist newspaper editor, is sent to an elite finishing school to "improve her station" after her father secures a rare scholarship for her. Helena a 38-year-old professor of philosophy and literature, is an unconventional woman navigating life in an era where intellectual and artistic pursuits are still dominated by men. Their growing connection challenges not only societal expectations but also their own perceptions of loyalty, duty and identity.
