Aaliyah Parker is the queen of her own little world at Oakridge High in the heart of New York City. She's not the most popular girl in school, but her charm, kindness, and radiant smile make her everyone's favorite person to be around. Life is steady and uncomplicated-until she gets paired for a project with the one boy who's the opposite of her calm existence.

Alessandro "Sandro" Moretti is the school's golden boy. Star soccer player, heir to his family's famous Italian restaurant chain, and the boy every girl obsess over, Sandro is used to getting what he wants. Beneath his confident exterior, though, he's always been fascinated by Aaliyah-the girl who's never seemed affected by his charm.

When they're assigned to work together for a semester-long English project, sparks fly in unexpected ways. Sandro's relentless teasing and affectionate Italian nicknames-bella (beautiful), stellina (little star), sole mio (my sunshine)-start to chip away at Aaliyah's walls. But as she gets closer to him, she begins to see that Sandro's life isn't as perfect as it seems.

Can Aaliyah handle the pressures of being in Sandro's spotlight? And will Sandro's growing obsession with Aaliyah scare her away-or pull her closer than she ever thought possible?
