If you had told the human, cold-hearted, war-hardened Colonel Miles Quaritch that his favourite Marine, Avatar Rider and friend, Jake Sully would betray him; turn tail and go full Na'vi, and that Jake's Wife Neytiri would be Quaritch's end. And on top of that, that he would come back as a Recombinant of himself, as blue as an Omatikayan Na'vi, and how after an attempt at getting back at Jake on order of himself, that he would follow the same path, fall in love with the forest and find love in a silver toned Mangkwan Na'vi named Syalìn.
Well, you might just get a pretty bullet put between those gorgeous eyes.
And, he would suffer cardiac arrest because he's too fucking old for this.

You lived through the Great Depression, and eventually managed to get yourself into WWII as a nurse with your mother when you were 17 years old. However, as the war progressed, there was more of a need for spies and central intelligence than there was for nurses and damage control. You managed to get yourself caught into some bad business and taken as a prisoner of HYDRA. (Yes the marvel universe HYDRA has made its way to Pandora. There will be no Avengers though, and reader will be the new fist of HYDRA.) They experimented on you before turning you into an assassin during the remainder of the war. When the war was over, you were put in cryo in 1945 at 22 years old. Over a period of 80 years you would be taken out of cryo, assigned to assassinate or destroy HYDRA enemies, and then put back on ice. 145 years later, you are awakened by the RDA after you were forgotten in an abandoned HYDRA base in Siberia. You now work for the RDA, one of the final strands of HYDRA, and certainly the most corrupt one. What will happen when you learn that everything you were told you were fighting for, was a lie, and you will never be going home to the world you once loved? What will happen when you have to break your moral code and repeat history that humans will never learn to avoid?Complete

What's at first just orders will slowly come to change the young Colonel's life and his relationship with Pandora, his son, his enemies, and the RDA forever. Part 1 in the Avatar, A New Mission series. This large, slow-build story is essentially an Avatar 3 (with heat and flare!) through Miles Quaritch's eyes after the events of the Way of Water and continuing his parallels with Jake Sully. The story really expands to a movie-sized scope as it goes on. Features Miles' existential crisis and also flashbacks to when Spider was with the 1st Recom Unit. Recoms Lyle Wainfleet and Mansk are also greatly developed. Did my best to be logical and reasonable with the in-movies set canon, and sequel foreshadowing. There are a *few* instances of eventual smut, but there are content warnings and it is kindly written to be skippable if that's not your thing! : )Complete
