Where I Belong (WangXian Modern AU)
[Completed] BOOK 1 OF WHERE I BELONG -A Modern AU- Wei Wuxian has a mess for a past; his parent's death, an adoption he didn't believe he deserved, a past self he hated with all he had, and an incident he'd rather not talk about ever again. He naturally thought of the world as a place where fairness didn't exist. He learned to care much lesser, to limit his attachments, and built walls around his heart so no one can break in. But when his long-lost childhood friend comes back to his life, his world starts to change, shaping it, molding it into a beautiful illusion. "Lan Zhan," he calls him, and when he looks back with those graceful eyes, he knew he'd never look away again. To Hell and Back
Wei Wuxian opens his eyes in a strange room. The past memories rush in but along with the memories of the loss and the hatred is the distinct memory of his own death. It takes him a while to realize that the body he inhabits is not his own. He has been dead for sixteen years. The World has changed a lot. The Jin Clan of Lanling fell when Jin Guangshan died and Jin Guanyao fled to avoid being punished for crimes against humanity, namely the ill treatment of the Wens. The cultivation world is in disarray with no known leader and no order. The ordinary people suffer and to end this suffering Mo Xuanyu, the son of a cultivator who failed to make a mark, performed the self sacrificing ritual to unite the cultivation world, to provide a leader that will help people rather than harm them. In a village few miles from Ciayi Town, Wei Wuxian grappled with the realization that he had been resurrected with the purpose of being targeted by all the sects all over again, so that in standing against a common enemy the cultivation world unites once more. However this time around, he has a golden core, though weak, and the added advantage that no one knows this face. What he didn't make allowance for was a person who knows his soul. P.S. Unlike my other fanfics that take the characters and weave a light fluffy romance (with light SMUT) around them this story deals with themes of social injustice, personal voice, identity crisis, self harm, suicide, violence and death. Your dreams
Wei Wuxian arrived for guest lectures to the Cloud Recesses. However, Lan Wangji quickly notices, that there is something strange about the Yunmeng Jiang sect head disciple. He does not act like rumour describe him. And most importantly, he does not act the same as he had done in the past. Moreover, there are strange visions that Lan Wangji gets when he is close to Wei Wuxian. Just what is going on? OR Wei Wuxian travelled back to the past. He does not remember anything and does not want to get close to Lan Wangji. What will Lan Wangji do? This work is inspired by request from Olivia Hawkins: "A time travel fic after Guanyin Temple where WWX uses MXY's golden core to travel all the way back before he went to the Cloud Recesses and he takes this pill that prevents him from falling in love. Every time LWJ is near WWX, he has visions of the events that occurred later in the novel such as the Cloud Recesses burning, WWX giving his golden core to JC, WWX being thrown into burial mounds and WWX becoming the YP. He approaches WWX this time and hopes that he can protect him but is rejected constantly. So he summons most of the cultivation world to tell them about the visions he had seen." This fic will contain themes and mentions that may be triggering, please read the warnings and tags I used and proceed at you own discretion. English is not my first language so I apologise in advance for any mistakes. I am also not very familiar with Chinese culture, customs nor naming conventions so this work may in some places not be 100% accurate. I do not own any characters I have used in my story, this is purely a work of fan fiction.
