Angeline Laurent is a nobody. Or she would be, if not for the powers that make her somebody.

People who can summon and control magic aren't rare. In fact they're so common there's a name for them: Other Mages. Those who draw from a dark reflection of the world, the Other, to fight against the creatures that come from it, Otherlings.
Angeline Laurent is a mage, yes, but she is also the only one in recorded history able to create portals directly to the Other. An orphan before she knew her own name, Ange has been poked and prodded at ever since her magic manifested. Because while her spells may be powerful, they could also bring about the end of the world.

When her fellow mages begin to vanish, everyone chalks it up to their own negligence. But Ange isn't so easily convinced. Investigating the disappearances leads her down a twisting rabbit hole, and while fighting Otherlings is something she's used to, nothing could prepare her for what awaits along this path.

Wait!" he called after her as he realized that he could hear a very low humming noise coming from within the woods. "Maybe she's following the noise," he thought as he began to follow it to find where it was coming from and hopefully locate Celine. He pushed through the underbrush as the sound became louder and then he saw Celine standing in front of a whirling, shimmering vortex which was floating about four feet above the forest floor. There was a myriad of different types of strange looking creatures coming out of it and Brandon stood there in disbelief at what he was seeing.
