His body shaking, Makoto's eyes drifted to Kyoko's burned hands. He recalled that Kyoko had once mentioned that she had made a conscious decision not to have her scars treated. In other words, it may have been possible to remove them, but Kyoko had deliberately chosen not to. She wanted those scars, because she couldn't bring herself to erase the reminder of Yui Samidare, and the 'mistakes' she had made that had cost Yui her life.

But did Kyoko really need them anymore?
