Chapter 1: Because of the War

Earth was already unrecognizable. Wars that had raged for decades had left their marks on everything. The land of women had been reduced to ruins, with few men left struggling to cope with the daily challenges of life. Hundreds of thousands of women, weakened by hunger and lack of resources, had to come together to survive. The world they grew up in was no place for the faint of heart. Pain and hardship were part of every day, and hope was nothing more than a distant memory.

It had never been easy to be a woman on Earth, but now, after the wars had destroyed almost everything before peace could even begin, things were worse than ever. The air was polluted, the land scorched, and people queued for the few resources that remained. The world they lived in was filled with despair, and the will to survive was stronger than anything else.

She, Lia, was one of the few who had survived. Wounded by life but determined not to give up. It wasn't easy being part of this world. She valued her independence, but sometimes, in moments of solitude, she felt like a lost island in a sea of darkness. She had never believed that she would ever have the chance to escape this nightmare. But everything changed the moment she learned about them.

Behind The Smile by xelliex13

Introduction "I didn't know you were holding so much behind that smile." Lia's world was a fragile one, built on cracks formed long ago. Her childhood was a battlefield she never signed up for, leaving her with scars no one could see. To others, she seemed ordinary-just another girl navigating life with a shy smile and quiet demeanor. But beneath that facade, she carried the weight of her loneliness and the chaos of her mind. Friends surrounded her, yet she always felt alone, yearning for someone who could truly understand her, someone she could trust with the pieces of her broken soul. On the other side of town was Troy, a boy who once thrived on attention and shallow connections. His charm was his weapon, and his reputation as a playboy made him the envy of many. But behind the smirk and the easy confidence lay a heart bruised by betrayal. A complicated past relationship had shaken his faith in love, leaving him guarded and distant. He wanted to believe in the possibility of connection, to open his heart again, but something always held him back. He needed love, not in the fleeting, superficial way he once knew, but something real-something that could mend the cracks inside him. When fate brought them together, Lia was at her lowest, her walls crumbling under the weight of her pain. For Troy, her vulnerability was both frightening and magnetic, stirring feelings he thought he had buried. In her, he saw a reflection of his own struggles, and in him, she found a flicker of hope she didn't dare believe in. Their meeting was not a coincidence-it was the beginning of a story that would test the limits of trust, resilience, and the transformative power of love. Would they be able to pull each other from the shadows, or would their broken pieces cut too deep? Their journey had only just begun, and everything was about to change.

In love with a Hitman (Hitman Series Pt. 2)

25 parts Complete Mature

This is the second book in the Hitman series, it can be read as a standalone but you'll understand characters a bit better if you read 'Falling for a Hitman' first. Get hooked on the fast paced, heart racing action, and fall for the romance. The second I heard her say my name I knew I was in too deep. I knew I'd do everything in my power to protect her. When her ex came to town I made sure to do just that. When she finished her shower that first night in my home, I fell for her. Never in a million years did I think love at first sight existed but dammit was I wrong. I have nightmares, I ran far to get away from my ex. I never thought he would find me after I changed my name and moved 1500 miles away from my hometown. When he whispered in my ear I thought I was going to die right there in the middle of the dance floor. Luckily I had big strong tattooed arms to fall into, and I never wanted to leave that embrace. We knew nothing about the other. The deceit, the lies we've told, the demons we have both left behind. Not to mention the doubt and everything that could ruin whatever future we could possibly have. She's worth it. He's worth it.
