What comes around goes around. Yes, he disobeyed, and yes, he got cast out. Away from his one true family, he felt confused and lost. He doesn't remember getting cast out however. He doesn't remember disobeying either, nor does he remember his family.
All he knows is the life he is living right now. He has forgotten about the lives already lived, and doesn't know about the lives yet to come. What we know, though, is that there will be one life in thousands, millions, standing out. Because that is the life during which he will remember.
This is that life.

Set after 4x10 with a little, tiny, itty bitty change to the end scene. "What meaning would life have if one's world was destroyed? Well, Lucifer's world was no longer Earth, it was no longer the free will, the chicks and the booze it offered, no. His world was the blonde, stubborn, tenacious and caring woman who would wake up to an empty bed and a broken heart. " Lucifer and Chloe have to say their goodbyes right before Lucifer goes back to Hell. All the beautiful time they spent together, all the memories of their partnership do nothing but fill their minds up and cloud their judgment. And Lucifer does leave because it's what he has to do, the prophecy must not be fulfiled. However, no one expects the little miracle that's left behind on earth. Or the AU, post-season 4 nobody asked for where Lucifer leaves and Chloe has to glue her broken pieces back together without her partner, only to find later on that the devil left her something for her to remember him. "Are you coming to bed firefly?" He says to me laying his hands over my waist joining me in looking over the city. "I want to look out for a little longer if that is alright?" He says confidently and walks away leaving my waist cold something for which I am grateful. Especially when my mind burns with other more dangerous thoughts. The warmth that forever lingers in the air, never burning the skin, but always reminding about what is around us. I force air into my lungs feeling the unexpected warmth fill me. He stands in the room watching me even though he said he was getting ready for bed. He is worried about me, about me jumping. I have contemplated it I will admit, but he would stop me before I fell even two feet. I was stuck, and no one could save me. Not even myself, my fucking weak self. His presence is demanding no matter where we are, but right now I could sense everything about him, and I try to suppress the unwanted feelings that curl right under my skin. "Firefly? About done?" He calls out and I release my hand from the guard rail not realizing that as I looked at the lights that covered the shining city with the falling fire in the background that my subconscious was thinking about how nice it would be... how relieving it would be... to just fall.
