Your hopeful excitement grew as your eyes grazed over the letter in your hands. Your years of painting in the town square, with only a few passers stopping to request a piece from you, seemingly paid off. One of the people interested in your work must have had high connections, as a note was left in your hands only days later, one that could ultimately change your life and career completely.
In your trembling hands was an invitation, the quality of the ink and paper told you it was from someone wealthy. The name of the nobleperson written the end of the invitation left mysterious, only marked with the initials B.C. Though he did have the curtesy to hint his title as a count within the writing.
The mysterious nobleman had sent you a letter, commissioning you to paint his portrait. An opportunity to make quite a bit of money for yourself, and add some credit to your name. If all went well, you would have the perfect chance to pursue your dream. Though the process would take quite a while, something he seemed to have recognized, offering for you to stay in his castle until the job was done.
Eyes glittering with hope, you set off for the distant castle, unaware of the true nature of your mysterious host.
