The love of a mother

Lexi sat on the floor, tears streaming down her face. Noah quietly entered the room and walked over to her. Without a word, he pulled her into a gentle hug.

"Don't cry anymore, Lexi," he whispered softly. "It's not your fault that one of the twins is missing. We'll find her, I promise. One day, we will."

But Lexi's pain erupted. She snapped angrily, pushing him away. "You always say that! But I can't keep going on like this. It hurts so much! I'm a mother now, Noah, and it tears me apart not knowing where my other twin is. Is she okay? Is she happy? Has she eaten? I don't know anything, and it's killing me."

Noah stood up and moved to stand beside her. She was staring out the window, lost in her sorrow.

"I'm a dad too, Lexi," he said quietly, his voice thick with emotion.

Lexi turned to face him, regret in her eyes. "I'm sorry for pushing you. I'm just so sad. I didn't get to see her. I didn't get the chance to hold her, to say goodbye... It hurts more than I can bear."

Noah reached out, taking her hands in his. "I'm here now, Lexi. Don't cry anymore. I'll be with you, we'll get through this together, dear."
