As the days go by her father, Rowan Miracle, unaware of the relationship notices how he sees less and less of his daughter. After getting a call from Chris's high school about her excessive absences, he begins a search to find out where she's going after she claims she off to school. These two sides of the same story are told through interrogations held my a sergeant trying to get as much information about the case as possible.
