Alicent Stark granddaughter to the richest man on Prince Edward Island.Alicent lost both her parents when she was young and was therefore raised by her grandfather on the ideals that were treat everyone with kindness even hired hands.James Stark promised his daughter when she fell I'll that he would raise Alicent the way Elizabeth's own mother raised her.James also promised his darling girl that he would never force her daughter into marriage and that he would have little Alicent as the heir to his company when she became 17 or earlier if his little sunshine of a grandchild wished it so.James raised Alicent to treat everyone with respect and just because they had money doesn't mean they're better than everyone.He also taught her to never let a man choose her worth and what he couldn't teach his old friends Marilla Cuthbert and Mrs.Rachel Lynde helped especially with womanly matters which the poor man just stood stammering when he found her crying blood stained sheets frantically calling his closest neighbor Mrs.Barry to explain to his little sunflower that she was not dying seeing as how Alicent's maid was sick and sent home.
